You know what time of the year is! Yep you guess it right! It is the time to kick off another NYFW, where closing streets for models to parade is normal, where fashion bloggers put on their extraordinary looks which might include then risking catching a deathly cold, where all the fashionistas around the globe stay up until the AMs to catch the latest news from their favourite designers and of course where we, aka Chromantics Fashion team, are here to report it to you! 

Let's kick off another Fashion Frenzy month with what we called a kick-off show of the NYFW (although in reality it happened in LA Venice Beach) with Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid.

Ahhhhh, the sweet aura of Coachella. Wait what?! What do you mean it is now April yet and it's only February!? Also, as far as our geography skills goes(and trust me when it comes down to fashion capitals we know very well where they are located), Venice Beach is located in LA and New York is on another coast. On the other hand, we are talking about Tommy Hilfiger together with Gigi Hadid, that gives enough reasons for the duo to do basically whatever they want, even close entire streets to have their own festival of fashion, which to be honest is exactly what they did.

So, on Wednesday 8th of February, just a step away from the official opening of the NYFW, Venice Beach closed down to host the Tommyland (another reference to a festival made there). Indeed we can say it wasn't your typical fashion show but one that Hilfiger got us used to the past fashion weeks. No no no, no complaints made here, we love it and looking to be reminded of Coachella, which is coming quite soon. If you deny it, then you are lying to yourself that you haven't used the flower crown filter on Snapchat. Yes you had and yes you are overusing it as much as we do!

To the show itself, the festival vibe was transfared both on the runway and on the people attending it. The second capsule colletion of Gigi Hadid with Hilfiger was debuted on the runway (TommyxGigi) and as per say the model had the honor to open the show with a crop top covered in geometrical shapes and the honorable colours of TH and USA, cowboy belt and shiny pants, paired with her big smile of excitement. The rest of the colletction followed the well recognized American spirit of the house and in sync with the festival spirit. Plenty of denim decorated with patcwork, bohemian scarf-print blouses, oversized glittering sweaters with or without the US flag or the Hilfiger logo, all paired with cowgirl boots and western belts.

The show also sported the upcoming trend of see-now-buy-now, with the clothes being available as they walked down the runway in more than 70 countries. So, yes we can pretend to be in our own little festival by purchasing the clothes, something we are not totally against it but still taking sometime to get accustomed and familiar with. Afterall, Tommy himself said that they launched the Tommy Now because they believe they are the brand to break the conventions.

Charmani was the title of the Spring Summer 2017 fashion show of Mr. Armani. In the age of 82, Giorgio Armani decided to concentrate his focus on the body, so all his creations were about the lightness of the body, finding a new balance between discipline and freedom as he said at the backstage of the show. 

Moving to the show, the words of Armani, translated into filmy fabrics in watery florals and iridescent textures that variously evoked fishnet and scales. Jackets seemed more like cardigans with fastenings at the neck. Shorts were double-layered within transparent silk for a bubble-like effect. Fringe was everywhere and what we really loved was that all the outfits were accessorized with sunglasses, gladiator sandal-boot, earnings and sunglasses. 

When you think of a classic Diesel girl you definitely don't think of her wearing lacy frocks in dusty pink shades but you think her into ripped jeans, leather jackets and into a more rock 'n' roll attitude. This season forget all of that. This collection is all about romanticism. The inspiration of the designer was the controversial work of David Hamilton, a photographer that his 60's and 70's pictures were all about very nude and very young girls. 

Moving to the collection Diesel kept some of the main characteristics of the brand. Strong utility, army-surplus vibe which featured short baby doll dresses with Chantilly lace overlays, broderie anglaise-ruffled miniskirts paired with field parkas and military inspired oversize jackets. The feminine allure was highlighted by a palette of nude, sand and ivory. 

We might be still in Milan but by watching Etro's latest fashion show that doesn't seem to be true. Spring and summer collection was all about textured leather and bead-trimmed caftans, cloaks against silk maxis, mid-length dresses, ponchos, pants and jumpsuits. What we really loved about this collection were the hammered silver jewelry and the gold-hardware hunks of ceramics and minerals. A monochromatic opening saw interplays of stripes and paisley that sometimes seemed touched by the geometry of Art Deco. It rambled on, touching down in contemporary modernity via silk floral jacquard, white weave–piped running shorts and bra tops, moto-detailed pants in leather, and an acid yellow nylon jacket. Simultaneously, Etro had us harking back to an age where athleisure was as likely the name of an unknown kingdom as it is a trend: There was a lovely print incorporating the pressed-gold lettering and illustration of leather-bound 1920s books and frontispieces, plus bags pragmatically equipped with hip flasks and sketching pencils.  

Giambatista Valli is a master on setting his fashion shows. For this season, he decided to host his show in the most beautiful building of Milan; Palazzo Lita, a Baroque palace in the middle of Milan that dates back to the 17th century and had once been a family home. The story behind his show, finds the Valli girl, waking up in Los Angeles after a hungover. She wears her baby doll and her glittery brocade bedroom slippers at the same color with her walls. 

The models on the defile padded through the scene in abbreviated lace and jacquard mini dresses depicting desert scenes, leopard sports or floor length tiered frocks with fringe and sequin appliqués. His brocade and glitter stack-heeled ankle boots will definitely be one of the best pieces of the show. One thing is sure: That we need all the creations, for sure!

Marco de Vincenzo fashion show was a mind trip to Riviera. Sunny seaside image as a photo print on a blouse and as a template for the jacquard of a coat. Happy colors is a signature point on Marco's collections and this season was no exception. Combinations of azure, olive green and emerald on one ruffled flock; on another he paired green and black strips with red and black strips embroidered tiny flowers. Texture was another big part on his show. Bring was embellished cotton tops and skirts with strings tied in bows. He also played with pin-tucking and he sliced cut-outs into pleats. 

This season Tods presented a new image of the brand on the catwalk and that is because of the new creative director; Alessandra Facchinetti that landed to the company earlier this year. As for the collection, Tods presented short shift dresses, biker jackets, pea coats, T-shirts made of striped python , leather and suede. What really became a trend automatically from this show were those amazing Double T and Wave bags. Many accounts on Instagram and Snapchat captured them and let's be honest; They are quite amazing and we really need them for this spring summer! 

When we are thinking about Versace house, we directly think of a strong, powerful and always glamorous woman that she is always ready to take down the best night at a nightclub or at a business event. This season Donatella Versace seems to involve this kind of woman. She transform her into a more athletic and energetic and this is probably what the period demands. 

Models from many ages and more varieties of shape when billowy nylon parkas; body-con leggings with tight sporty T-shirts; Teva flatforms sandals. Versace special techniques couldn't be missed and the nylon techno fabric was soon threaded with drawstrings pulled a couple of asymmetrically sexy dresses in navy blue and green. Leather was deployed as a cropped color-blocked blouson with nylon track pants. The classic curve-sculpted black dresses and the signature checkerboard prints couldn't be out of this spring summer collection in a new and more forward way that the past collections.

When we have Gucci, we have the official opening of Milan Fashion Week and trust me, this is a relief for us because we are in love with this city but we are also in the middle of fashion week coverage and this excite us more. But let's dive into the weird/magical for some show of Alessandro Michele for Gucci. This season Alessandro decided to transform the place of the show into a sickly all-pink colored scheme, from the carpet to the candy floss-colored velveteen banquettes, to the walls. The weirdest thing was that the lights never come up and that upset lot of people that were there because they weren't able to see all the details of the clothes. 

Describing the collection prints, metallics, silk and sequins were the main materials that we saw on the show. Oversized ruffled dresses, colorful capes, extravaganza hats that remind us another period of time were perfectly combined with the space. We all know what Alessandro Michele has another point of view and we saw that clearly from this collection. Total denim suits, huge blows on shirts, transparency effects in almost all the clothes and floral printed matched suits remind us a little bit of the 70's silhouettes. No matter of what you think of this collection, we think that every piece of clothing that we saw will be sold out soon...

Alberta Feretti is a designer and a brand with a certain way and idea of creating every single collection. For this spring, this house, decided to play a little bit more edgy with their creations but in a certain way. The opening outfit of Bella Hadid, wearing this gorgeous long tiered ruffle skirt in an amethyst-color silk combined with a tooled-leather corset gave us the idea that this show is going to be extremely amazing and it was not only because of the creations but for the tailoring as well.

Layered underneath a ruffly chiffon frock were flared trousers and silk peasant blouse were crisp shorts, we can describe it as a basic but balanced and simple. In contrast, the multicolored floral thread on different dresses, gave another tone to the show. The kinda-athletic-mode, couldn't be missed from the runway and the ankle-grazing skirts combined with cropped tanks were exactly what we want for our athleisure outfits.


This season, Peter Dundas, had only one image on this mind and that was probably the 70's! We know that Peter is not a huge fan of minimalism and for this spring that statement became a reality. Patch worked references, long drifty dresses, flares and platforms are totally "in-fashion", for this spring/summer, Cavalli girl.

The places that the designer was inspired were for sure the places that he is from! For example, those amazing Navajo jackets were inspired by the United States, the place were his mother came from or those platform boots that come from Scandinavia, another place where Dundas come from. The only thing, that we all agree is that Peter knows for sure how to make a woman looks not only sexier but toweringly slim also, due to his beautiful, colored, multi-everything dresses. But how can we speak about the 70's without talking about fringed blankets, shawls, leather jackets and drifty dresses. Well, those were the main pieces of this collections and that is the reason why this collection was so 70's!


If we want to describe Fay's latest collection we can use what the designers of the brand told "Original, nonconformist, free". That moto is what this collection is all about. The direction of the designers is to make both mothers and daughters, to getting away go what is known as "cool" and "classic".

The collection vibes seemed to be inspired by safari and the girls on the runway to be a modern version of commandos. Safari jackets, which were shown in shades of green and black and were accented with grommeted hems or patches. The jackets were paired with flouncy skirts. Silky little dresses under army coats gave us the image of the familiar to us "festival girl style". Some pieces stayed classic on their collection such as the old time classic trench coat, a leafy green suede coat-dress, a selection of oversized jackets which make us think that the gap between mothers and daughters is now more close that ever.


In every show as you may know the designer gives some hints about what the audience is about to see and that helps the reviewers to their job more properly. This season Franceso Scognamilio was inspired by his childhood memories go the circus but also from an oversized and deconstructed wardrobe that belonged to an aristocrat's father. Those hints were a little bit difficult to be understood but when the catwalk began, all made a sense.

Masculine, oversized volumes, few asymmetric poplin shirts and sexy micro shorts in chantilly lace were some of the main characteristics of the show. Flimsy lingerie and couture touches of jacquard brocade in gold, fuchsia and seawater green which graced big bombers with fringed piping worn with lacy shorts made the collection, a total winner!


Dell'Acqua, the designer of No 21, told to the reporters on the backstage a quote for the show; "It's a new attitude". What he attempted to do for this spring is to full the gap on a woman's life when she understands that she will never be all things to all people and her wardrobe. Surveying net hems on macramé dresses and bow-topped pumps highlighted with fluorescent tape, sequined tube skirts, tulle-lined anoraks and feather-trimmed cuba-tops are the clothing for a woman who's ready for everything and nothing at the same time. The tiered silk, the sequined skirts, and the pocketed bombers completed the collection.
