Fall 2014: Favourite Nail Trends

4:19 AM

Fall is back and it's bringing the classics back in the game. This season's nail trends are all about glossy opaque shades and metallics. And we might saw a few baby blues, dusty pinks and other various shades of pastel colors, but don't be fooled; Nails this time of the year are all about deep burgundy shades and black.
But let's break it down the way we saw it on the runways.

The Classic Nude/Back to the Basics

Nude is always a good (and safe) idea when it comes to makeup and nails. There's a plot twist this season though; even though we saw the classic shades around, in many occasions the nails were completely bare but nicely shaped and groomed for an effortless yet chic effect.

Dark Shades

Again -what a shock- burgundy, grey and deep royal blue are a thing this year. The new addition was black which mixed with the colours mentioned above gave the perfect combination for creating different designs on the nails.

Metallics

Teal or silvery grey, it doesn't really matter.Mettalics will always look updated and NYFW ready if you're not afraid to try them out. What we love the most is combining our favourite dark nail polishes with ones which have metallic flakes in them. If you're not into the too-obvious shimmers try darker shades which won't appear as frosty.

The Designs

Starting off with half-moon manicures, which were undeniably most designers' favourite, the combinations could be endless. Our favourite one though was certainly the burgundy one were the "half moon" design was colourless and -basically- bare. French manicures were also one of the preferences but the tips were alternatively painted black, giving a grungy-looking effect. Last but not least, a lot of geometry was involved especially not-filled triangles, stripes, and bare squares whith just the lining and with no filling.
